Breathe a couple slow, deep breaths. Imagine yourself taking or drawing a picture of a moment in your life.
This photo is a snapshot of any scene, where you are the main character. The setting: any real-life scenario for you - in your home, at work, or while you're out and about, doing something fun with friends or pets.
It's to be an exact replica of your current life. No-one else will ever see or judge your picture, so be sure to include the background, any other people present, and all the exciting or boring details.
Once you're finished, pause for a moment. Take it all in. Is your photo believable to you? Make any necessary changes to keep it accurate with your actual life.
What do you think? Do you feel good looking at your picture? Be open and honest with yourself about what this scene means to you. Do you like what you are seeing?
Look at your finished product and name it for how you really feel or think. Give it a title. Don't put a lot of thought into it. It can be long or short. For example, "Feeling Happy and Healthy at Home in My Kitchen" or "Ugh!" Whatever comes to you is perfect.

If you're like most, there's something missing. You may or may not be able to identify what it is you're wanting or needing. Or, you don't know how to add more characters to your life or how to change the scenery.
If you're like many, you continue on the same path, in the same manner, hoping you won't notice what's missing anymore. Or, maybe you feel knowing what's missing won't make a difference because you believe it cannot change anyways.
By not mentioning what it is we're afraid of, and why we feel overwhelmed, sad, lonely or a little off kilter, we actually give more power to the Gap. Then, the Gap seems larger than what it really is.
Acknowledging the Gap brings acceptance. Acceptance allows peace to come in, which lowers stress, and makes it so much easier to feel confident to continue your journey to bridge the gap.
